The Den at Soneva Fushi is definately the holy grail for all kids’ clubs. Toddlers have their own padded indoor play area.If that’s not enough, you can always play with Namcho, the baby elephant, during his daily visit to the kids’ club. In addition, there is a covered outdoor multi-level play area and even a rock climbing wall. There is also a themed birthday party space (with fun themes including pirate adventure and candy wonderland) in the Tree House Café to host birthday parties for children. Kids have their own café that serves popular kids’ treats. For the older lot, there is Xbox, Wii, computer stations and a mini snooker table. The children’s library here gives out books as well as Kindles loaded with books. There is an art and crafts studio for the older ones and a ball pool for the youngest lot. Activities range from candle making, Thai dancing and pizza baking to zumba, mini Olympic games and Muay Thai boxing. Inspired by a tree house, The Tree House Kids’ Club is perhaps the most elaborate kids’ club in Phuket, if not in all of Thailand. They go snorkeling, kayaking and wind surfing and can partake in the Den’s eco-friendly version of the Olympics. They are taught jungle survival skills such as the different ways a coconut can be used, as well as ways to protect the local marine species. Children get to feed the hotel’s wild boars, go on rainforest walks, indulge in gardening, make windmills and visit local schools to enjoy a fun cultural exchange with Thai kids. Every activity reflects Soneva Kiri’s SLOW LIFE (Sustainable-Local-Organic-Wellness Learning-Inspiring-Fun-Experiences) philosophy. The gigantic manta ray shaped Den boasts of an art and crafts room, book room, music room and a games room where the kids are engaged in a host of activities including learning the Thai alphabet, playing instruments, creating their own jigsaws, designing clothes and even jewellery from recycled materials. When the kids’ are not busy attending pajama parties, fun filled celebrations are being organized for special occasions such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween, New Year, Chinese New Year and Thai festivals. There is an unending list of activities to choose from like Thai dancing, key ring making, fish feeding, nail painting, Hatha yoga, aqua tai chi, salsa dancing, teen scuba diving, Thai dessert making, Thai leaf origami, diving and more. My kids were in love with the mini movie theatre, with beanbags and a huge flat screen and wanted to catch a kiddie flick there every day! The kids’ club also houses a separate teen zone that features karaoke equipment, PlayStation, a pool table, table tennis and computer stations with internet access. And the best part is that it’s open a whopping 11 hours a day! Stacked with toys, games, puzzles, X Box, kid-friendly furniture, indoor slides, swings and an area sectioned off for art and craft, the kids’ club here is a little world unto its own. This resort houses one of the most elaborate kids’ club I have seen in Thailand. There are kid-friendly hotels that will welcome your young uns’ and then there is the JW Marriott, Phuket. Pull in some quality ‘me’ time while they snorkel, paint, swing from a flying trapeze or putt at the golf course in the hands of highly trained experts at these fabulous kids’ clubs in Asia. On a family holiday with the kids? Dreaming of sand, snooze and sangrias? Hard to believe, but it is possible.
